Our Team
Boardworks Diving Academy is proud to have a dedicated and passionate board of directors and set of coaches. Our team is committed to excellence and constantly strives to push the envelope of diving in the community and beyond. We work together to support and inspire our athletes, our community, and each other, both in and out of the water.
Ryan Grover
Ryan has been involved with diving for as long as anyone can remember. With 105 gold medals under his belt and multiple national titles, Ryan knows a thing or two about the sport. Known for his springboard work, Studying Pharmaceutical Sciences in UVic by day, by night, Ryan tirelessly brings his talents and passion to bear from our youngest and newest athletes, to our competitive veterans preparing for national and international competitions.
Lucy Christopher
Lucy dove competitively for 8 years with Revolution Diving in Winnipeg. During her time as a diver, she helped out with coaching and found she had an aptitude for it. Lucy coached with Winnipeg for 4 years before moving to Victoria to study English Literature at UVic. The Academy quickly scooped up Lucy's services! Now in her 7th year as a coach, Lucy still finds joy in seeing her athletes conquer their fears, gain confidence, and succeed at learning new dives and skills.
Matthew Bourgeault
Matthew has been involved in the sport of diving since the early age of 6 years old. Originally a diver in Edmonton, Matthew has been coaching since he was 14 years old! He is well-known in Alberta as a talented and passionate member of the diving community. Like his athletes, Matthew's favourite part of coaching is being on the pool deck. Fun fact: he once performed a "flying squirrel" dive off the 10 metre platform with... surprising results.
Cody Powell-Tuckett
Cody was an elite diver for 12 years and a coach for the past 6 years in the UK. Adept at talent development, she has helped athletes compete at national competitions and earn various awards. Cody embodies our vision of sportsmanship, teamwork, and positivity. With a solid balance between mental health, overall well-being, and instilling confidence and drive, Cody brings her talents to the pool deck to mentor and grow our young core of divers into the next batch of Canadian elites.

Kim is a retired X-Ray Technician, who ran an X-Ray Intervention department for 10 years in Edmonton, Alberta. Kim is also a board member of the Pacific Animal Therapy Society (PATS). She works closely with schools, hospitals, and care facilities to provide positive and uplifting experiences through pet therapy. In addition to the fulltime job of Organizer In Chief for her daughter, Renée Batalla, Kim volunteers at competitions and helps facilitate events, activities, and the competitions themselves. You're sure to see her on the pool deck!

Angela Kachanoski
Treasurer
A native to Vancouver Island, Angela has been living in Victoria for 14 years. Although she loves the sciences and obtained a bachelor of science from the University of Alberta, she has worked in finance related roles in both the private and public sectors, for more than 30 years.
Angela has been volunteering with her church community for all her adult life, in various capacities, from teaching classes to running youth and children's programs and camps. She has been enjoying volunteering at her daughters' local dive competitions for the last few years and looks forward to many more.

Tiffany Congdon
Secretary
Tiffany is born and raised in Victoria and has been Public Servant with the BC Government for 28 years. Tiffany is currently going into her third year as the President of the PAC at Royal Oak Middle School and has always been heavily involved in her children's school and sport communities as well as her church community. Tiffany puts much of her time into volunteering her children's sports; competitive gymnastics for her daughter and competitive diving for her son. At the pool, Tiffany volunteers at any and all events and competitions; from organizing and facilitating the preparations for the events to helping in any area where there's a need during the competitions. During regular training she is often still watching and cheering in the stands!

Lisa Martin
Director
Lisa has called Victoria her home since the early 2000s. She holds a Social Science Degree and Teaching Certificate from the University of Victoria. She was employed with the BC Ministry of Education until she became symptomatic with a rare neuro-immune disease in 2009. While managing her health, she is grateful to have had the opportunity to be home with her two daughters as they pursue their passions in the competitive sporting world. Lisa has had many opportunities to volunteer in her children's schools and sports organizations. Notably, she has volunteered as a chaperone for two years with Team BC's Artistic Gymnastics Women's team, aided in the creation of two sports academies, and has logged countless hours at diving, gymnastics, soccer, rugby, and track & field meets. Lisa is an advocate for youth sports with the best interests of the youth as her top priority.
